The SHINE Awards 2025 were nothing short of amazing for the second year running. Bringing together 300 people at the UKs First Ever Alcohol Free corporate award ceremony, was truly inspirational and enabled us all celebrate UK Businesses who are truly going to extra mile for the health and wellbeing of their workforce.

Steps Together’s SHINE Awards honoured the very deserving winners on the night, and showcased their commitment to excellence in employee wellbeing the day before World Mental Health Awareness Day. The energy in the room was palpable. Every round of applause, every award given, each one stood as a testament to the life changing impact we are all striving to make 

With an array of fantastic and uplifting entertainment throughout the night, all expectedly delivered by real grass root community organisations from the North West, who themselves support their own wellbeing through their shared community, the event truly did SHINE.

Partnering with Claritee to bring this event to life was a brilliant experience. Their vision for inclusive, alcohol free spaces that prioritise authenticity aligns so closely with our own values at Steps Together. Together, we created a space where real recognition could happen.

It was also incredibly important to see our chosen charity NACOA (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics) represented and supported. Their work is vital, often unseen, but profoundly impactful. To see them standing shoulder to shoulder with others in the room, being recognised and supported by the generous fundraising on the night, was one of the evening’s most moving moments

Thank you to everyone who donated on the night—every penny is greatly appreciated and will be used to support children of alcoholics. As part of the event, a portion of the funds raised will be donated to NACOA (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics). Founded in 1990, NACOA provides vital support to children affected by a parent’s drinking or other addictive problems. These children span all ages, with many challenges only becoming evident in adulthood. With 1 in 5 children in the UK affected by parental drinking, NACOA’s work is essential. If you would still like to contribute, donations are welcome and will help make a difference.

55% of children of alcohol-dependent parents describe facing serious mental distress through anxiety (60%), stress (51%), and depression (41%).

Alcohol-specific deaths have increased 27% since 2019.

Female alcohol deaths have increased 37% over five years.
